Vice Chairman – Country Lead, Canada, DBRS Morningstar
Doug Turnbull is Vice Chairman and Country Head, Canada at DBRS Morningstar Credit Ratings. In this role, Mr. Turnbull is responsible for overseeing all of DBRS Morningstar’s day-to-day operations in Canada. As part of the executive team, Mr. Turnbull also focuses on the strategic development of DBRS Morningstar’s global rating business and senior outreach activities for the company.
Mr. Turnbull has more than 40 years of experience in the investment banking industry, and is the retired Deputy Chairman, TD Securities Inc. Mr. Turnbull has worked in Toronto, Tokyo and New York, where he advised government, corporate, infrastructure and public sector clients on numerous public and private market transactions.
Mr. Turnbull is Chairman of the board of directors of The Canadian Ditchley Foundation, In addition, he is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation and the Advisory Board of Mera Cannabis Corp. Mr. Turnbull has held a number of board positions with public sector and not-for-profit organizations, including, Metrolinx, the Ontario Financing Authority, George Brown College Foundation, the Toronto Financial Services Alliance, the Advisory Panel of the Canadian Electricity Association and ORBIS Canada. Mr. Turnbull was also Co-Chair of the Canada-Assembly of First Nations, Joint Working Group on Resource Development.
Superintendent of Financial Institutions, Government of Canada
Peter Routledge was appointed Superintendent of Financial Institutions in June 2021, for a seven-year term.
He previously served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) beginning in November 2018. While at CDIC, Mr. Routledge led a successful transformation of CDIC’s culture, strategy, and technology vision. Mr. Routledge has extensive experience in Canada’s financial sector. Prior to joining CDIC, he was a Senior Advisor at the Department of Finance where he provided advice on a range of policy issues including financial stability, housing finance, and competition in Canadian financial services.
Mr. Routledge has held a variety of leadership roles in the financial services industry, both in Canada and abroad. He served as managing director of research at National Bank Financial, where he led a team responsible for producing equity, fixed income, and derivatives research on Canadian financial institutions. Prior to that, Mr. Routledge led the Canadian Financial Institutions Group at Moody’s Canada, with responsibilities for covering issuers in the banking, life insurance, personal and commercial insurance and reinsurance industries in Canada and the United States.
Mr. Routledge holds an MBA from INSEAD in France, and a bachelor’s degree in business and economics from Simon Fraser University.
